For the first time in school history, a Motlow athletic team claimed back-to-back state championships when the Motlow Bucks beat the Southwest Tennessee Saluqis 78-61 Tuesday afternoon in Chattanooga to win the TCCAA/Region VII Basketball Tournament title.

With the wind blowing out to center field, Motlow and Wallace State combined for eight home runs Tuesday afternoon, but it was a walk-off single by Jake Chaney in the bottom of the 10th inning that provided the winning run as the Bucks beat the Lions 7-6.

Freshman Janna Lewis hit a three pointer with seconds remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime, and the Motlow Lady Bucks won the final five minutes 11-5 to secure a 77-71 win over Southwest Tennessee in Memphis Saturday afternoon.
