Lindsey Knoer leads Motlow College student-athletes
with NJCAA Pinnacle Award
June 26, 2014
Motlow College has a tradition of being among the leaders in Tennessee community colleges when it comes to student athletes and their academic performance. Spring semester 2014 added to that tradition with a Pinnacle Award winner and a team grade-point average that ranked among the best in the nation.
Recent Motlow graduate and softball player Lindsey Knoer from Huntland earned the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence, the NJCAA recently announced in its end of the year awards. The former Lady Buck pitcher maintained a 4.0 grade point average during all four semesters she studied at Motlow.
The NJCAA honors student-athletes as well as teams as a whole for achieving academic success. The award for Exemplary Academic Achievement, the award for Superior Academic Achievement, and the Pinnacle Award represent the individual academic awards presented to student-athletes, with the Pinnacle Award being the highest academic honor the NJCAA bestows. Knoer was among only 171 student-athletes nationwide to achieve this honor.
Knoer earned Dean's List recognition each semester at Motlow as well, and was presented with the President's Award during the recent student awards ceremony for earning her perfect GPA. Knoer was also a member of the Motlow chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, an honors society at two-year colleges that includes members worldwide.
While on the mound for the Lady Bucks, Knoer started 34 games during her two seasons at Motlow, and led the team's starting pitchers in earned run average and wins last season.
Additionally, the NJCAA announced the Lady Bucks softball team on its list of 2013-2014 All-Academic teams. Mindy Jo Britt, Keli Bruning, Chelsea Buffington, Makayla Campbell, Morgan Frye, Makenzie Hopkins, Chelsea Howell, Gabi Keith, Knoer, Monica Lane, Morgan Moyers, Heather Tapp, Lauren Warren, Miranda Whelan, Ashley Williams and Bridgette Wilson earned a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.24.
Knoer heads a large group of Motlow student-athletes to earn academic distinction during the spring semester. Honor Roll and Dean's List designations were given to students who earned a 3.0-3.49 grade point average or a minimum 3.5 grade point average, respectively.
Ten players on the baseball team and nine softball players earned academic honors for the spring 2014 semester. Nick Chambers, J.C Daily, Clayton Palicki, Patrick Poteet, Cole Thiede, Knoer, Lane and Wilson earned Dean's List honors; while Josh Bankston, Logan Conley, Peyton Phillips, Matt Sharp, Bruning, Campbell, Keith, Tapp, Warren, Williams and Wilson earned Honor Roll recognition. Motlow basketball and women's basketball players earned academic distinctions as well. Breanna Horner, Andi LaPietra, Kaley Rogers, Alexis Smith and Dezon Dozier earned Honor Roll designations, and Briana McDonald achieved Dean's List recognition.
