Motlow hoops squads get early test on home court

October 4, 2012

The Motlow Bucks and Lady Bucks have released their 2012-13 season basketball schedules, and after opening on the road they will each get an early test at home.

The season opens on Friday, Nov. 2 with a trip to Dayton, Tenn. to face Bryan College. One week later conference opponent Columbia State visits Copperweld Arena, with the women scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. and the men to follow at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9.

Last season ended for the Bucks with a 59-56 loss to Columbia State in the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) Region VII Tournament championship game in Jackson, Tenn. The Bucks won't have to wait long for their chance at revenge.

Most Motlow basketball games will be broadcast live on WHMT radio in Tullahoma and can be heard on 105.1 FM, 740 AM, TullahomaRadio.com, and LightTUBe channel 11. In addition, many of the games will be replayed with video on LightTUBe channel 23.

The TCCAA's Friday night-Saturday afternoon schedule pattern continues this season, with Jackson State scheduled to follow Friday's home opener. The Generals and Lady Generals will be in Lynchburg on Saturday, Nov. 10, with the women's tipoff at 2 p.m. and the men scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.

Motlow will play 13 games at home and 13 on the road this season. Both teams play on the same night at the same place on all dates except two. The Bucks will travel to Pensacola, Fla. for a pre-holiday tournament on Dec. 14 and 15.

The longest home stand is three games in five days in early December. The longest road trip is in late January, when both the Bucks and Lady Bucks will play four games in eight days away from home.

The regular season will end with both squads traveling to Jackson State on Saturday, Feb. 23.

The TCCAA/Region VII Tournament will be held at Copperweld Arena this season for the first time in 10 years. All teams will gather in Moore County from Mar. 5-9, with the two championship games scheduled for Saturday the 9th.
