Motlow Extends Shutout Streak with 4-0 Win Over Columbia State

Kristen Gasaway scored three goals and the Motlow Bucks extended their shutout streak as they traveled to Columbia and beat the Columbia State Chargers 4-0 last Thursday.

Motlow (6-2, 3-0) has not allowed a goal in its previous five games, outscoring the opposition 26-0. The Bucks now lead the TCCAA standings after one round of conference play, having beaten Columbia State, Dyersburg State, and Southwest Tennessee by a combined scored of 20-0.

After a scoreless first half, Gasaway got the offense rolling with an unassisted goal at the 47:00 mark. Janai Hosley followed suit at the 64:00 mark, scoring unassisted to give Motlow a 2-0 lead.

Gasaway was just getting warmed up. Three minutes later she scored on assists from Alysa Benton and Emily Fisher, and added the final goal with no assist at the 73:00 mark.

Lucy Riddle played the entire contest at goalkeeper to record her third shutout. She now has 37 saves on the season, which is tied for 20th in the nation.

Motlow recorded 22 shots, with 11 coming in each half and 10 being shots on goal. Columbia State had 10 shots, with seven being on goal.

Gasaway leads the Bucks with 10 goals on the season, tied for 14th in the nation, and has 22 total points, good enough to rank 15th nationally.

Motlow will start the second round of conference play when it hosts Southwest Tennessee at Franklin County High School in Winchester on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 3 p.m.
