Bucks beat Southwest TN 7-0, Extend Shutout Streak to Six Games

The Bucks got a pair of goals from both Kristen Gasaway and Ellie Kirk and completed another shutout with a 7-0 win over TCCAA rival Southwest Tennessee on Thursday at Franklin County High School in Winchester.

Motlow (7-2, 4-0) has not allowed a goal in conference play, outscoring the opposition 27-0. The Bucks have allowed just one goal in their previous eight games and have recorded six consecutive shutouts.

Gasaway got the Bucks on the scoreboard early, scoring at the 1:18 mark on an assist from Alysa Benton. She increased the lead with her second goal at the 33:44 mark on an assist from Katherine Clark. At intermission Motlow led Southwest 2-0.

At the 55:46 mark, Motlow's India Gaitlen broke loose down the right side and powered an unassisted shot into the Southwest goal to give Motlow a 3-0 lead.

Ninety seconds later, Kirk took a pass from Gasaway and scored at the 57:06 mark. The two combined on another goal, with Kirk scoring her second goal at the 66:16 mark on an assist from Gasaway to up the lead to 5-0.

Karleigh Villanueva scored at the 70:54 mark on an assist from Benton, and Madilyn Stark closed out the scoring at the 89:57 mark on an assist from Villanueva.

Three Motlow goalkeepers combined on the shutout. Lucy Riddle played the first 45 minutes and had two saves. Molley McElhiney played the first 11 minutes of the second half, before Leigha Resendiz took over and had one save in the final 34 minutes.

The Bucks out-shot the visitors 36-5 and led in corner kicks 7-0.

Gasaway is now tied for 10th in the nation with 12 goals on the season and sixth nationally in shots on goal with 27. Benton is tied for 10th nationally with eight assists. Riddle is 16th in the nation with an .848 save percentage.
