Bucks Beat Dyersburg St. 4-1 to Extend Winning Streak to Nine

The Motlow Bucks scored three goals in the first 14 minutes of action and went on to beat Dyersburg State 4-1 Thursday evening in Covington, TN.

Motlow (10-2, 5-0) is on the verge of winning its second consecutive TCCAA regular season title with only one more conference game to play. Motlow will host Columbia State, whose only conference loss is to the Bucks, on Thursday, Oct. 13 at Franklin County High School in Winchester. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The goal allowed by Motlow was the first it has given up since Indian Hills beat the Bucks 1-0 back on Aug. 28. Motlow has not lost since.

The Bucks started fast in Covington, with Emily Fisher scoring the first of her two goals at the 4:14 mark on an assist from Alysa Benton.

Just over a minute later, at the 5:35 mark, Madisen Hodges drove one into the Dyersburg goal after an assist from Kristen Gasaway.

Fisher scored her second goal at the 13:53 mark on another assist by Gasaway.

Dyersburg scored its only goal at the 20:02 mark and the Bucks took a 3-1 lead into the intermission.

Gasaway, Motlow's leading scorer and one of the top scorers in the nation, put the final goal into the net at the 66:58 mark on an assist from Fisher.

Lucy Riddle played the entire 90 minutes at goalkeeper, saving four shots while allowing just the one goal.

Motlow led in shots 37-9 and in corner kicks 6-0.

Gasaway had eight shots for the Bucks while Fisher had seven and Grace Murray added five.

Motlow will recognize its sophomores when it hosts Covenant College on Monday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. in Winchester.
