Emily Fisher scored three goals and four other Motlow Bucks had two goals apiece as the women's soccer team rolled over Covenant College 15-0 Monday at Franklin County High School in Winchester. The number of goals and margin of victory are both schools records for the Bucks.
Motlow (11-2, 5-0) is ranked No. 21 in the nation in the latest NJCAA poll and 18th in the National Soccer Coaches Association poll. Motlow can clinch the TCCAA/Region VII regular season championship with a win over Columbia State Thursday, Oct. 13, in Winchester. The Bucks beat the Chargers 4-0 in their first meeting on Sept. 22 in Columbia.
The Bucks scored early and often. In addition to her goal hat trick, Fisher added two assists. The eight points are a school record for points in a single game.
Alysa Benton added two goals and three assists, Madisen Hodges had two goals and one assist, and Kristen Gasaway and Cheyenne Watson had two goals each.
Additional goals came from Katherine Clark who added three assists, Ellie Kirk added two assists, and Alexis McMath had a goal and an assist. Grace Murray scored a goal, while Maya Thiele, Janai Hosley, and Karleigh Villanueva each had an assist.
Lucy Riddle, Molley McElhiney, and Leigha Resendiz each played 30 minutes at goalkeeper, but Motlow's defense was so good that Covenant never even got a shot on goal.
Meanwhile, the Bucks out-shot the visitors 58-1 and led in corner kicks 6-1.
As a team, Motlow leads the nation in shots with 361. The Bucks are second in the nation with their 10 shutouts, and seventh nationally in goals scored with 63.
