The Motlow Bucks advanced to the TCCAA/Region 7 Tournament championship game with a 7-0 shutout of Southwest Tennessee on Monday, Oct. 24.
Motlow (14-3) will host Dyersburg State (6-8) on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in Winchester for the TCCAA title. The winner will host the NJCAA Southeast District championship game on Nov. 4 for a spot in the national tournament.
Dyersburg advanced with a 2-1 victory over Columbia State.
The win was Motlow's 13th shutout on the season, tying the Bucks for the most in the nation. Motlow is also tied for 1st nationally with 462 shots.
Six different players scored goals in the win over the Saluqis, with Alysa Benton leading the way with two.
Alexis McMath got the scoring started at the 16:23 mark on an assist from Karleigh Villanueva. Benton got her first goal two minutes later, with the assist coming from Emily Fisher.
Katherine Clark increased the lead to 3-0 at the 32:59 mark, scoring on an assist from Ellie Kirk.
Motlow's defense continued to smother the visitors while the offense maintained pressure. Kristen Gasaway scored at the 52:59 mark on an assist from Cheyenne Watson.
Diana Ramirez got on the scoreboard at the 64:08 mark on an assist from Janai Hosley, and Benton scored her second goal at 66:04 on an assist from Madisen Hodges.
The final goal came at 78:58 with Hodges scoring on an assist from Grace Murray.
Motlow out-shot Southwest Tennessee 46-3 and led in corner kicks 11-1. Lucy Riddle played 70 minutes at goalkeeper with two saves, and Molley McElhiney played the final 20 minutes with no save opportunities.
